In the end, Barça decided not to sign Nolito, unable to find a solution to avoid a big transfer fee. Although Barça’s decision was based on the economic side of the transaction purely, some risks they took in the past were successful, others ended up being really disappointing. Beware of the winter transfer window.

Essential for some, useless for others, the winter transfer window is a very particular moment of the football season. It is supposedly ideal for teams in need, desperate to find reinforcements at a lower price in order to finish well the season. But some big teams also need reinforcement, because of injuries, or in Barça’s case, to avoid them. In the past, Barcelona have taken the chance and signed players in the winter, for diverse results.
