Economic differences between British Premier League teams and Spanish La Liga teams keep growing. During this winter transfer window we could witness, once again, the domination of Bristish clubs at the time of signing footballers.
One figure shows it very clearly: Norwich City on their own spent more millions on signings (32) than the whole of La Liga teams put together (31.6).
In total, 236 million euros have been invested in new signings in the Premier League. The most expensive ones were that of Imbula from Porto to Stoke (24 million euros), that of Oumar Niasse from Lokomotiv Moscow to Everton (18 million euros) and that of Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea to Newcastle (16 million euros).
On the other side of the scale, in La Liga, Barça weren't able to sign the footballer Luis Enrique had asked for in this winter transfer window, the winger Nolito, for 18 million euros. Zidane's Madrid didn't invest anything either on transfers but it is expected for them to have a lively summer transfer window, since afterwards they will have to spend a year without signing because of FIFA's sanction.
